An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. The orchard remains covered in trees on aerial photographs of 1971, although has been completely cleared by 1996. The earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established for increased soil depth and improved drainage, are northeast to southwest aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.14 hectares of northeast facing slope, within a triangular shaped plot depicted on the First Edition OS map. The orchard banks were not clearly visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey.
