A possible former field boundary of between medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork bank on aerial photographs of 1947 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the northeast of Tilery. The possible boundary is northeast to southwest aligned and is situated on moderate southeast facing slope. The Parish Tithe map appears to be un-surveyed here, so it is not possible to determine whether this field boundary was extant by this time, although it does appear to have passed out of use by the time of the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. The Historic Landscape Characterisation project has classified this area as comprising ‘medieval enclosures based on strip fields’. A number of other earthwork banks of former field boundaries are visible to the immediate north, although since they are depicted on historic maps, were not transcribed during this survey.
