A large irregular shallow earthwork depression, circa 110 by 90 metres, is visible on aerial photographs taken from 1947 and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. Several small irregularly shaped fields are depicted in this location on the Tithe map, one of which is depicted with trees. These field boundaries appear to have been removed by the late-19th century, although orchard is still depicted in the eastern part of the area. It is interpreted as the remains of an extractive pit that was abandoned by the mid-19th century, and partly then reused for fruit tree cultivation.
