The earthwork partially corresponds with an 'Old Marl Pit'.

A semi-circular earthwork depression is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. Part of the depression corresponds approximately with a depicted 'Old Marl Pit' earthwork on the First Edition OS map. A number of marl pits are recorded closely to the west (MDV117107).
The earthwork is interpreted as a 19th century marl pit that passed out of use by the late-19th century.
