Several large earthwork depressions are visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The earthworks are situated at the bottom of Evergreen Hill. The easternmost depression corresponds approximately with a curving field boundary and quarry depicted on the Tithe Map and an enclosure of woodland depicted on the First Edition OS map. The depressions to the west do not correspond to any features on the Tithe Map, being situated across pasture and orchard plots. They are depicted as 'Old Marl Pits' on the First Edition OS map however. A shallower depression in the centre of the group does not correspond with any features depicted on historic maps, although a small round tree enclosure is depicted within it by the late-19th century.
The earthworks are interpreted as marl pits of mostly mid-19th century origin. The easternmost depression and central shallow depression of which pre-date the others and may be of post-medieval to early 19th century in origin. All ceased extraction by the late-19th century.
