Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.

A former extractive pit of possible medieval to 19th century date was visible on digital images derived from lidar data as a shallow circular earthwork pit under pasture, approximately 25 metres in diameter, on the west-facing slopes of a spur, north-west of Witness Moor, Broadhembury parish.
The pit is not depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map and therefore probably passed out of use prior to the 1890s. It is circa 12 metres east of a former gravel pit that is depicted on the historic OS map (and therefore not transcribed by the survey), and might have had a similar function.
