Two irregular earthwork pits, covering circa 56 by 84 metres in total, are visible on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards. No features are depicted in this location on the available 19th century mapping and they are interpreted as the remains of extractive pits that were abandoned by the mid-19th century. Only one, larger, pit is visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014, suggesting that they had been expanded or eroded since the mid-20th century. The transcription is based on the 1948 aerial photographs.
