An extraction pit of possible post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014, to the south of Pyks Pit. The sub-oval shaped earthwork measures approximately 27m in length by 18m in width and appears to be symbolised on, and so pre-dates, the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. The earthwork pit was not clearly visible on aerial photograph or other digital images made available to the survey owing to tree cover here.
