An extraction pit of possible post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014, within Pyks Pit. The irregular shaped earthwork measures approximately 79m in length by 43m in width and is located within a copse depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, the trees likely being established within the pit following its abandonment. The earthwork pit was not clearly visible on aerial photograph or other digital images made available to the survey owing to tree cover here.
