Possible tree-planting banks of a former post-medieval to 19th century orchard are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014, at Deadbeer Farm. An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. The earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established are north to south aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.13 hectares of gentle northwest facing slope, within a single irregular shaped plot depicted on the First Edition OS map. The orchard banks were not clearly visible on other aerial photographs or digital images made available to the survey.
