Church Row. This terrace was built around 1810-13 by French prisoners of war. When the Chapel of Ease was established in St Michael's Church, this row of houses became 'Chapel Row', later 'Government Row' and finally 'Woodville Terrace', before being demolished in the 1960s. The low wall in front of the Cornish Unit houses called Woodville Avenue was the remains of the front wall of Church Row.
