A post-medieval to 19th century extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the north of Hanger Lane. The sub-circular shaped earthwork measures approximately 47m in length by 45m in width and is situated on gentle to moderate west facing slope in proximity to a number of similar such features also recorded during this survey. Whetstone pits and a gravel pit are also depicted in proximity here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map.
