An oval pit almost 40 metres across was visible on aerial photographs of 1950 and digital images derived from lidar data and aerial photographs captured between 1998 and 2014, as a slight earthwork on the north-west-facing slope south-east of Broadleaze Farm, Payhembury parish.
The visible earthworks did not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the 19th century mapping available to the survey. This might support the interpretation that the extractive pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-19th century.
