Cropmarks which have possibly formed over an infilled ditch of a prehistoric to Romano-British enclosure are visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2010, on the gentle northwest facing slopes of a hillside, to the south of Westerhope Farm. The partial enclosure is sub-rectilinear in shape, with cropmarks defining the east, west and northern sides and two rounded corners. It is visible to a length of at least 36m by 32m in width. Some caution should, however, be exercised regarding the origin of the cropmarks here and it is also possible they are of modern, agricultural origin. The cropmarks were nonetheless recorded given the high density of archaeological remains recorded within the immediate vicinity, including several prehistoric burial mounds and possible Roman ironstone mine workings. They were not visible on other aerial photographs or digital images made available to the survey.
