An extraction pit of possible 19th to 20th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the southeast of Wolford Lodge. The irregular shaped earthwork measure approximately 24m by 24m in size and is situated on the moderate south facing slopes of a combe. Given the sharply defined nature of the earthworks here and their apparent absence on aerial photographs of 1947, before woodland was established here, it is possible this extraction pit is of mid to late 20th century date. The area is largely obscured by tree cover after this date and is no longer visible on aerial photographs.
