An irregular earthwork pit, circa 92 by 59 metres, is visible on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. No features are depicted in this location on the 19th century mapping, although the adjacent field boundary seems to skirt around the pit and may post-date it. The pit is interpreted as the remains of a post-medieval or even medieval extractive pit that was abandoned by the mid-19th century.
