Slight parallel linear banks were visible as earthworks to the east of the plot.

Next Perspectives, 2010, Aerial Photography for Great Britain, Next Perspectives APGB Imagery ST1102 22-MAY-2010 (Aerial Photograph). SDV356259.

The orchard plot had been partly cleared and developed for housing. The banks were visible as slight earthworks to the east of the plot.

Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.

The remains of roughly parallel ridges were visible as low parallel earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1947 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014, on the east-facing slopes north of Rushlands, Awliscombe parish.
The ridges were spaced approximately 7 to 8 metres apart and ran obliquely to the contours of the slope. They fell within a larger plot depicted as an orchard on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map. The earthworks are interpreted as the remains of tree planting banks made for fruit tree planting and improved orchard drainage dating probably from the post-medieval period to the mid-19th century.
The banks were visible through light orchard planting on aerial photographs of 1947. Digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2010 reveal that the plot has now been largely cleared of trees and partly developed for housing, the banks surviving only in an area of circa 900 square metres to the east of the plot, now a domestic garden.
