A slight earthwork pit, circa 28 by 23 metres in size, is visible on aerial photographs taken from 1976 and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. It is not depicted on any of the available historic maps, although the field boundary curves around the location of the pit, suggesting that it was established by the mid-19th century. As it was not depicted on the available historic maps it is interpreted as the remains of an extractive pit that was abandoned by the late-19th century.
