Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.

Two pits are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs of 1950 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 and aerial photographs of 2010. A circular pit circa 30 metres in diameter was located less than 3 metres west of a roughly L-shaped pit up to circa 25 metres wide and 105 metres long.
The visible earthworks did not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the available 19th century mapping. This supports the interpretation that the extractive pits had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century.
