Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.

A former irregularly shaped extractive circa 75 metres across was visible as an earthwork and cropmark on aerial photographs of the 1940s and 1980s, and as an earthwork on digital images derived aerial photographs of 2010 and from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014.
The visible earthworks corresponded with any small plot listed as a pit on the Tithe Apportionment for Feniton, but not on the OS First Edition 25 inch map. This supports the interpretation that the extractive pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century.
