The visible earthwork might partly correspond to an irregularly shaped plot (Plot 62).

Two possible contiguous broad but shallow rectilinear pits measuring up to 115 by 60 metres in size were visible as earthworks on aerial photograph of 1947 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014.
The visible earthworks did not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the 19th century mapping available to the survey, but a the smaller and more clearly defined of the earthworks might correspond to a plot marked on the Tithe Map for Buckerell parish.
This might support the interpretation that the visible earthworks are the remains of extractive pits that had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century.
