An oval feature, probably a pond, is depicted within the approximate location of the visible earthwork.

An irregularly shaped pit circa 33 metres across was visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014.
The visible earthwork corresponds with a pond pit depicted in this location on the 19th century mapping available to the survey. The pond was probably established within the larger remains of an extractive pit of probable post-medieval origin.
This supports the interpretation that the extractive pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century. The pit remains depicted as a pond on the current OS MasterMap base layer.
