Environment Agency, 1998-2014, LiDAR DTM data (1m resolution), LIDAR ST1301 Environment Agency DTM 01-JAN-1998 to 30-SEP-2014 (Cartographic). SDV359177.
A retilinear pit was visible as an earthwork.
Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.
A rectilinear pit circa 100 by 35 metres in size was visible as an earthwork on aerial photograph of 1947 onwards and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014.
The visible earthworks did not explicitly correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the 19th century mapping available to the survey. However, hachures on the OS First Edition correspond with the south-east edge of the pit.
This supports the interpretation that the visible earthworks are the remains of an extractive that pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century.
