The visible earthwork of the western pit partly corresponds with the area of plot 716.

Two possible former extractive pits were visible as earthworks on digital images derived from elevation data captured in 2006.
The visible earthworks did not explicitly correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the 19th century mapping available to the survey. However the western pit might correspond partly with a small triangular plot on the Tithe Map for Awliscombe parish. This supports the interpretation that the visible earthworks are the remains of extractive pits that had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century.
