The visible earthworks correspond with a small curvilinear plot.

An irregularly shaped pit circa 80 by 50 metres in size was visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014.
The visible earthwork corresponded closely with a small, unnumbered plot falling within, and part of, plot 91on the Tithe Map for Buckerell, abutting a field boundary to west. On the OS First Edition 25 inch map the adjacent field boundary has been removed but the earthwork corresponded closely with a small copse.
This supports the interpretation that the visible earthworks are the remains of an extractive that pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century. The pit remains visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2010.
