The visible earthwork corresponded with a plot depicted as a copse or small woodland.

The visible earthworks did not correspond with any depicted pit feature.

A small oval possible pit circa 20 metres was visible as a slight earthwork on aerial photographs of 1950 onwards and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014.
The visible earthworks correspond with a small copse or area of woodland depicted on the Tithe Map for Payhembury. The copse was not depicted on the OS First Edition 25 inch map of circa 1890.
This supports the interpretation that the visible earthworks are the remains of an extractive that pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century.
