Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.

Two small areas of narrow ridges were visible as low parallel earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1950 onwards and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 on the north-east facing slopes south-east of Charlton Hill Farm, Feniton parish.
The visible earthwork banks were spaced circa 5 metres apart and crossed the contours of the slope. They fell within orchard plots depicted on the Tithe Map for Feniton and the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map. The plot had been cleared of trees by 1950. The earthworks are therefore interpreted as the remains of tree planting banks made for fruit tree planting and improved orchard drainage, dating possibly from the post-medieval period to the 19th century.
