Narrow ridges were visible as low parallel earthwork banks on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. The visible earthwork banks were spaced circa 6 metres apart and crossed the contours of the slope.
They fell within a plot depicted as an orchard on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map. The earthworks are interpreted as the remains of banks made for fruit tree planting and improved drainage in an orchard dating possibly from the post-medieval period or the 19th century. The plot remained moderately planted in 1947 and probably therefore passed out of use in the second half of the 20th century.
A linear earthwork bank, possible a former field boundary or medieval to post-medieval date, was also visible within the area of the orchard, and has been recorded separately.
