A linear bank circa 2 metres wide, set partly within a broader ditch, was visible as an earthwork south of Deer Park Hotel, Buckerell parish defining a rectilinear enclosure up to 140 metres across.
The bank did not correspond to any field boundary depicted on the 19th century mapping available to the survey, but was recorded within an area of parkland labelled as Deer Park on the OS First Edition 25inch map. The bank is interpreted as the remains of a field boundary of probable post-medieval date that was cleared prior to the 1840s, possibly for emparkment as a Deer Park or later in association with the Hotel.
The bank was not visible as earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 and has probably been levelled, although the broad hollow or ditch remains visible.
