Extraction pits of likely post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the southeast of Bodmiscombe Wood Farm. The earthworks are typically sub-oval in shape, measure between 14m to 69m in length and are dispersed across three adjacent fields, on the south side of the main Bodmiscombe road. They are located in an area where a number of similar such features have been recorded during this survey.
