An extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the east of Bodmiscombe Wood Farm . The irregular shaped earthwork measures approximately 52m in length by 32m in width. The extent of the feature is depicted as a copse on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, the copse likely being established within the pit following its abandonment.
