A possible extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the west of Bodmiscombe. The semi-circular shaped earthwork measures approximately 26m in length by 21m in width and is located in an area where a number of similar such features have been recorded. It appears to have been largely levelled by 2016, although is still faintly visible.
