Possible extraction pits of likely post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the north of Greenlands. The two irregular shaped earthworks appear to form part of a single feature, approximately 60m in length by 38m in width, which has been dissected by a late 19th century field boundary. It is located in close proximity to ‘Old clay pits’ depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, so it is reasonable to argue that this pit was similarly utilised for such. It was not clearly visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey owing to tree cover here.
