A possible extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the north of Shutes Farm. The large irregular shaped earthwork measures approximately 149m in length by 47m in width and is situated within woodland depicted here on the Parish Tithe map of 1838-48, the trees possibly being established within the pit following its abandonment.
