Possible post-medieval to 19th century extraction pits are visible as earthwork pits on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, cut into the steep east facing slopes of a scarp, to the east of Higher Northcott. The two possible extraction pits comprise an oval shaped pit, approximately 33m in length by 22m in width, with a much smaller pit to the northeast, measuring approximately 8m in length by 5m in width. The earthworks should, however, be viewed with some degree of caution and it is also possible they are the result of natural erosion along the scarp face.
