A possible post-medieval to 19th century extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, on west facing slopes to the southeast of Lower Sheldon Grange. The possible extraction pit is sub-rectilinear in shape and measures approximately 16m by 16m. The feature is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, so clearly pre-dates the late 19th century.
