Full description

(04/10/1979) SX 58879073. Just below an east facing crest on West Mill Tor, in an area of rough pasture, is the possible remains of a hut. It is set into the slope to a depth of 0.3 m with the excavated material pushed forward to form a platform 7.5 m in diameter and an apparent protected entrance gap to the southwest. There is very little stone in evidence and in this respect it is atypical of Dartmoor huts.
Surveyed at 1.10 000 on MSD and at 1:1000.

(29/05/2004) This sub-circular earthwork is as described however it is probably of military origin but its precise function is unclear. It lies adjacent to a sinuous double row of set stones (MDV11812) in an area littered with mortar shell holes.
