Full description

Row of houses adjoining the rear of 4 Market Street are clearly visible on the late 19th century historic map; not clear whether they may have existed in some form prior to this time as the Tithe Map is a little vague.

Numbers 6, 7 and 8 at rear of number 3 (not listed) form a good example of courtyard arrangement of mill workers cottages. Other examples of back courts survive on Market Street and Fore Street.
