Several curvilinear earthwork ditches are visible on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards and on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. They are roughly parallel to each other and run downslope and then broadly along the contour, and some then seemingly back upslope, suggesting that they may have been fed from two sides. They are interpreted as the gutters of a catchmeadow system of post-medieval or 19th century date, and as no gutters or sluices are depicted on available historic mapping they are likely to pre-date the late-19th century. It seems that a watercourse running alongside the field boundary and depicted in historic mapping is likely to be the water source.
