A possible post-medieval to 19th century extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the south of Middle Luxton. The sub-oval shaped earthwork measures approximately 15m by 12m and is situated on southwest facing slope. The visible earthworks did not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the available 19th century mapping. This supports the interpretation that the extractive pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century.
