Possible tree-planting banks of a former post-medieval to 19th century orchard, with associated field boundaries are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1948 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, at Knapp Farm, Yarcombe. An orchard is depicted in the immediate vicinity on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, although if one was present here, then it appears to have passed out of use by this time. The earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were possibly established, are northeast to southwest aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.06 hectares of west facing slope. The extent of this possible orchard is defined to both the north and east by earthwork banks of two former field boundaries, which had similarly passed out of use by the late 19th century.
