Earthwork banks of probable post-medieval to 19th century date are visible on aerial photographs of 1948, to the south of Higher Stout Farm, Yarcombe. The earthworks, which are northeast to southwest aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.28 hectares of southwest facing slope, may represent the remains of agricultural improvement or represent the site of a former orchard, the banks providing improved drainage and increased soil depth for the fruit trees. An earthwork bank of a former field boundary defines the southeast edge of these earthworks. The earthworks are not clearly visible on other aerial photographs or digital images made available to the survey and may have since been completely levelled.
