Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.

An elongated narrow pit was visible as an earthwork circa 120 metres long by 40 metres across on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014.
The visible earthwork did not correspond with any pit features depicted on the 19th century mapping available to the survey, but a small pond fell within the area of the wider earthwork on both the Tithe Map for Cullompton and the OS First Edition 25 inch map. This might support the interpretation that the visible earthworks are the remains of an extractive that pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century and was subsequently utilised as a pond
The pond is recorded separately as part of MDV113618.
