Possible post-medieval to 19th century water channels are visible as two earthwork ditches and a bank on aerial photographs of 1948 onwards, to the southeast of Knightshayne Farm, Yarcombe. The two parallel channels, up to 300m in length, are northwest to southeast aligned and are situated on gentle to moderate northeast facing slope, at the head of a combe. A slight earthwork bank flanks the western of the two ditches. The water channels possibly form part of a catch meadow system, tapping a water source at Knightshayne Farm as a means or irrigating the meadow slopes. Alternatively, the site of a mill is also inferred from field name evidence in the vicinity here (MDV38425), so it is also possible one or both of these water channels may have functioned as a leat to this possible mill. The water channels clearly truncate earthworks associated with a possible settlement site (MDV38427).
