Former extractive pits of possible post-medieval to mid-19th century date are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1948 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the west of Stout Farm, Yarcombe. The earthworks are irregular in shape and measure between 40m to 46m in length. The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the available 19th century mapping. This supports the interpretation that the extractive pits had passed out of use prior to the late 19th century.
