Possible tree-planting banks of a former post-medieval to 19th century orchard are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1948, to the north of Watchford Farm, Yarcombe. An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. Aerial photographs of 1948 show a series of parallel northwest to southeast aligned earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established. These banks occupy an area of approximately 0.38 hectares on the steep southeast facing slopes of a scarp, within a single elongated shaped plot. The orchard banks are not clearly visible on later aerial photographs or digital images and their survival is uncertain.
