A possible banked enclosure of largely unknown origin is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1971 and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the northeast of Watchford Farm, Yarcombe. The three-sided enclosure measures at least 70m in length by approximately 47m in width, with an 8m wide bank, and is situated on gentle sloping ground, on the edge of a steep northwest sloping scarp. The eastern edge of the enclosure is not visible and has possibly been truncated by a clay pit (MDV47453). It is situated alongside probable post-medieval field boundaries (MDV118632). The origin of this enclosure is largely unknown, although could be of potential prehistoric date, given that the immediate area forms part of an important funerary landscape, or is of potential medieval date.
