A former field boundary of potential medieval date is visible as an earthwork bank on aerial photographs of 1948, to the south of Coburn’s Farm, Yarcombe. The curvilinear shaped earthwork is northeast to southwest aligned and closely respects the field boundary to the west on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of the 1880’s-90’s. The visible earthworks do not, however, correspond with any field boundaries depicted in this location on this map. This supports the interpretation that the field boundary had passed out of use prior to the late 19th century. The Parish Tithe map mosaic is incomplete here, so it is not possible to determine whether the field boundary was extant by this time. The earthwork bank is not visible on other aerial photographs after 1948, or digital images made available to the survey and its survival is unknown.
