A former field boundary of potential medieval date is visible as an earthwork bank on aerial photographs of 1948 onwards, to the southwest of Old Woodhayne Farm, Yarcombe. The linear shaped earthwork is northeast to southwest aligned. The visible earthworks do not correspond with any field boundaries depicted in this location on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of the 1880’s-90’s. This supports the interpretation that the field boundary had passed out of use prior to the late 19th century. The Parish Tithe map mosaic is incomplete here, so it is not possible to determine whether the field boundary was extant by this time. The earthwork bank is visible on digital images of 2002 and a linear cropmark of a bank, which probably still survives as an earthwork, is visible in 2014.
