Cropmarks which have formed over a levelled bank of a former medieval field boundary are visible on aerial photographs of 1971, to the northwest of Watchford Farm, Yarcombe. The sinuous cropmarks are broadly north to south aligned and closely respect field boundaries to both the east and west depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. The cropmarks do not, however, correspond with any field boundaries depicted in this location on this map. This supports the interpretation that the field boundary had passed out of use prior to the late 19th century. The Parish Tithe map mosaic is incomplete here, so it is not possible to determine whether the field boundary was extant by this time.
